The following guide walks you through the full upload process from start to finish. Follow the steps below, or watch our short video guide: Upload your designs and add mock-ups.

Go to app.thepatterncloud.com, open Design Management and click Uploads. This is where all your uploaded files will be stored until they are made live.

Click Select files and choose the main thumbnail image (JPEG) that customers will see first. This image represents your design in the storefront.

You can upload a high-resolution file (PSD, TIFF, or AI) at this stage or come back to it later. Give it the same file name as the thumbnail (for example design01.psd and design01.jpg) and they become one design.

You can also add a high-resolution file to an existing design at any time: open the design and click High-Res Files at the top of the page (see Upload and download high-res files).

Click the design in Uploaded Previews to open Create Images. Under Select Design, click your design, then under Select Mockup, choose a product. Use the Controls to adjust the scale, position or rotation of your design, then click Generate & Save. To upload your own mock-ups, go to Configuration › Settings › Mockups (see Add mock-ups to a design).

You can add up to 10 images per design, such as additional mock-ups. Click Add a mockup for each one.

Ensure your JPEG file is named appropriately — this filename will become the design code visible to customers on your storefront.

Depending on your subscription plan, you can generate a short video showcasing your design on a fabric swatch. Select the target slot for the video and click Generate Video. Videos are added to a rendering queue and may take up to 24 hours to appear.

On the Add Metadata step, fill in the following details:

If applicable, answer Is the file in repeat?, and under Swatch Type choose Paper or Fabric if a physical swatch is available alongside the digital file (or None).

Add relevant tags to help customers find your design. Choose tags relevant to the season, trend, style, or category. Good tagging improves discoverability across your storefront.

Before tagging your designs, we recommend setting up your custom tag headings first — this allows you to create your own categories and menu structure that will appear on your storefront. See the full guide here:

Once you’re happy with everything, click Make Live on the Add Metadata step. Your design moves to Stock and immediately becomes visible to customers on your website. If the button is greyed out, the design needs a P1 and a P2 image and at least one tag from the Section group (see Make a design live).

We share a folder of mock-ups with you: upload the ones you want once, then add them to any design.

Here's how:

2️⃣ Download your favorite designs.
3️⃣ Upload them under Configuration › Settings › Mockups: drag them into Upload mockups, or click it to choose them. Use PNG files with a transparent background, up to 30 MB.

If your designs are created as repeat tiles (e.g. 32x32cm or 64x64cm), follow this guide to upload and showcase them correctly:

Select your repeat square file (e.g. a 64cm x 64cm JPEG or layered PSD). Industry standard sizes are 32x32 or 64x64.

After uploading, click the design in Uploaded Previews to open Create Images and the Create New Image window.

💡 To use a different tile as the pattern, click Upload Tile under Custom Pattern (Optional) (PNG or JPG, up to 30MB).

Under Controls, Repeat Pattern is already ticked, so your design is tiled. Change the Scale to show the real size of your repeat.

If you untick Repeat Pattern, your design shows only once, with white space around it. Keep it ticked to fill the image with your repeat.

Once you’re happy with the repeat preview, click Generate & Save. This will be the main image customers see on your storefront.

Optionally, click Add a mockup and choose a product under Select Mockup. Repeat Pattern is already ticked. Click Generate & Save: the image goes in the next empty position.

Add additional images if needed. If your subscription includes video generation, you can also create a fabric swatch video at this stage.

Add relevant keyword tags and write a customer-facing description. We recommend including the repeat size (e.g. 64cm x 64cm) in the description so buyers have all the information they need.

Once all steps are complete, click Make Live to publish the design. It will appear on your storefront immediately.

Log in as a customer to check how your repeat tile design appears on the website. You can choose between a filled thumbnail or a square display depending on your personal preference and how you want the collection to look.

Need to upload multiple designs at once? Bulk ZIP Upload lets you prepare and submit an entire batch of designs in one go:

Open Design Management, then Uploads, and click Bulk ZIP Upload.

Organise your files in a folder before zipping. Each design should include:

Click Select a ZIP file to choose your prepared zip folder. Make sure each design has its JPEG thumbnail and, optionally, its high-res file.

After uploading, your designs appear in Uploads. Open each one to add its mock-ups, details and tags, then make it live.
