At The Pattern Cloud, we strive to create a seamless and transparent experience for both designers and buyers. One of the most common questions we receive is about pricing — how it's set and whether there's a standard across the platform.
Pricing Determined by Each Studio
It is important to clarify that the pricing of individual designs is set solely by each design studio. As a platform, The Pattern Cloud does not dictate or impose pricing; rather, we provide the necessary tools and marketplace for studios to showcase and sell their work independently.
Each studio establishes its own pricing strategy based on factors such as the complexity of the design, exclusivity, licensing terms, and overall market positioning. Studios set their own prices and input them directly into the backend of the system. TPC does not have the ability to change or adjust these prices in any way.
Industry Guidance and Standard Pricing
While we do not control pricing, we understand the importance of market knowledge and pricing benchmarks.
Leveraging our deep understanding of the industry, we can offer guidance regarding standard pricing trends to help studios make informed decisions. This guidance is based on our extensive experience and industry insights, but it is not a mandated pricing model — ultimately, the decision remains with each studio.
Transparency and Fair Practices
Our goal is to foster an environment where creativity thrives and business transactions remain fair and transparent.
We encourage studios to price their designs in a way that reflects their artistic value while remaining competitive within the marketplace. Buyers, in turn, can rest assured that pricing is determined independently by the creators, ensuring a fair and open marketplace.
Configuring Exclusive Territory Pricing
The following guide walks you through how to set up and configure your exclusive territory pricing in the backend. You can also watch our short video guide: Set your prices and shipping.
Step 1: Access Pricing Settings
At the top of the page, open Configuration, then Settings, and click Prices. You can also open Design Management and click Pricing.
Step 2: Adjust Tax Rates
If applicable, set your tax rate under Configuration › Settings › Getting paid › Tax. Please note that tax is only applied to customers purchasing designs from within your country.
Step 3: Configure Checkout Options
Two checkout options:
Discount codes — on the Prices page, next to Discount codes, click Add code to create a code customers can apply at checkout
Invoice payment — under Getting paid › Invoice payment, switch on Allow invoice payment for new customers to give customers the option to pay by invoice
Invoice payment is the default for new customers, but you can change it for each customer on their Pricing tab (Pay By Invoice).
Step 4: Set Exclusive Territory Pricing
Open Exclusive prices. It breaks the world down into territories. For each territory you can:
Set your exclusive design price in the local or preferred currency
Set a price for each pricing tier. The currencies you can choose are set under Getting paid › Currencies
This allows you to offer region-appropriate pricing to your global customer base.
Step 5: Pricing Strategies & Guidance

Step 6: Finalise Your Pricing Configuration
Once you're happy with your setup:
Adjust all price points to your desired values
Ensure all currencies you want to offer have been added under Getting paid › Currencies
Check that your exclusive pricing is consistent across all relevant regions
💡 Exclusive prices save as you go, so there is no Save button. On Non-exclusive prices, click Save changes when you’ve finished.
Swatch Shipping
Need to charge for posting swatches? On the Prices page, open Shipping and switch on Enable Exclusive Shipping. Then enter a cost for each territory, in its own currency, so customers in Australia, the US, Europe, and beyond are each charged the correct rate automatically at checkout.
