3.1 Uploading Your Designs — Step-by-Step
The following guide walks you through the full upload process from start to finish. Watch the video walkthrough or follow the steps below:
Step 1: Access the Uploads Dashboard
Go to app.thepatterncloud.com, navigate to Design Management and select Uploads. This is where all your uploaded files will be stored until they are set live.
Step 2: Upload Your Main Thumbnail
Select the main thumbnail image (JPEG) that customers will see first. This image represents your design in the storefront.
Recommended size: 850px x 1200px
JPG dimensions must not exceed 2,000 pixels on any side.
Important: Make sure your filename has no spaces or special characters — these can cause upload issues. Wait until all files have finished uploading before refreshing or leaving the page.
Step 3: Upload High-Resolution File (Optional)
You can upload a high-resolution file (PSD, TIFF, or AI) at this stage or come back to it later. If uploaded together with the thumbnail, they will automatically link under the same design.
Step 4: Showcase Designs in Mock-Ups
Choose from available mock-up templates or create your own under Settings > Product Templates. Once selected, adjust the scale of your design within the mock-up as needed.
Each design must have at least two images — one thumbnail and one product image.
Step 5: Add Additional Images
You can upload up to 10 images per design — including different colorways or additional mock-ups. Simply drag and drop images into the upload area.
Step 6: Name Your JPEG Correctly
Ensure your JPEG file is named appropriately — this filename will become the design code visible to customers on your storefront.
⚠️ Use no spaces or special characters in your filename to avoid upload issues.
Step 7: Generate a Fabric Swatch Video
Depending on your subscription plan, you can generate a short video showcasing your design on a fabric swatch. Select the target slot for the video and click Generate Video. Videos are added to a rendering queue and may take up to 24 hours to appear.
Step 8: Add Metadata
Fill in the following details:
Upload date
Designer's name
Customer-facing description
Internal admin notes (if applicable)
Step 9: Link Repeat Designs and Fabric Swatches
If applicable, link any repeat designs and indicate whether a physical fabric swatch is available for sale alongside the digital file.
Step 10: Customise Tags
Add relevant tags to help customers find your design. Choose tags relevant to the season, trend, style, or category. Good tagging improves discoverability across your storefront.
Before tagging your designs, we recommend setting up your custom tag headings first — this allows you to create your own categories and menu structure that will appear on your storefront. See the full guide here:
Step 11: Make the Design Live
Once you're happy with everything, click Set Live. Your design will immediately become visible to customers on your website.
3.2 Uploading Product Templates
Right now, product templates require a manual upload, but it's a simple process!
Here's how:
1️⃣ Click here to access the templates on Dropbox: Link
2️⃣ Download your favorite designs.
3️⃣ Upload them to your website's backend under Settings > Product Images section.
Create Product Image Tutorial
In case you want to create your own custom mockups, we have a helpful tutorial on how to create Product Images. You can also find it in the admin area (backend) by navigating to Settings in the product templates section and clicking on this link: Discover how to create Product Images with this tutorial.
3.3 Uploading Repeat Tile Designs
If your designs are created as repeat tiles (e.g. 32x32cm or 64x64cm), follow this guide to upload and showcase them correctly. Watch the video walkthrough or follow the steps below:
Step 1: Select Your Repeat Tile File
Select your repeat square file (e.g. a 64cm x 64cm JPEG or layered PSD). Industry standard sizes are 32x32 or 64x64.
Step 2: Create Images
After uploading, open the image creation panel. Choose the square thumbnail option and adjust settings to suit your design.
Step 3: Set as a Repeat Pattern
Click Repeat design as pattern to tile the design. Resize as needed to accurately showcase the scale of your repeat.
Step 4: Handle Borders
When showcasing a repeat, white borders may appear at the top and bottom of the image. This is normal — adjust the scale or crop as needed to achieve a clean result.
Step 5: Generate and Save the Thumbnail
Once you're happy with the repeat preview, generate and save the thumbnail. This will be the main image customers see on your storefront.
Step 6: Add Product Mock-Ups
Optionally, add a product map mock-up. Apply the repeat pattern to a chosen product template and generate the mock-up image.
Step 7: Add More Images and Generate Video
Add additional images or alternative colorways if needed. If your subscription includes video generation, you can also create a fabric swatch video at this stage.
Step 8: Tag and Describe the Design
Add relevant keyword tags and write a customer-facing description. We recommend including the repeat size (e.g. 64cm x 64cm) in the description so buyers have all the information they need.
Step 9: Make the Design Live
Once all steps are complete, click Set Live to publish the design. It will appear on your storefront immediately.
Step 10: Preview on the Front End
Log in as a customer to check how your repeat tile design appears on the website. You can choose between a filled thumbnail or a square display depending on your personal preference and how you want the collection to look.
3.4 Bulk Uploading Files
Need to upload multiple designs at once? The Bulk Zip Upload feature lets you prepare and submit an entire batch of designs in one go. Watch the video walkthrough or follow the steps below:
Step 1: Access the Bulk Zip Upload Feature
Navigate to Design Management > Uploads and locate the Bulk Zip Upload box.
Step 2: Prepare Your Files
Organise your files in a folder before zipping. Each design should include:
Minimum requirement: one JPEG mock-up and one JPEG thumbnail
Optional: a Photoshop (PSD) layered artwork file
Step 3: Name Your Files Correctly
Use the following naming convention for each design's files:
dash-one (e.g.
design-dash-one.jpg) — this is the mock-up imagedash-two (e.g.
design-dash-two.jpg) — this is the main thumbnail image
⚠️ Use only letters, numbers, and hyphens in your file names. Avoid spaces and special characters, as these will cause upload errors.
Step 4: Select and Upload Your Zip File
Click Select a file to choose your prepared zip folder. Make sure you have the correct number of files per design — typically 3 files (mock-up JPEG, thumbnail JPEG, and optional PSD).
Step 5: Process and Tag Your Designs
After uploading, return to the Uploads section to review your designs. Verify that the mock-up and thumbnail are correctly positioned, then add any necessary metadata and tags for each design.
Step 6: Important File Guidelines
Before submitting your zip, please ensure the following:
Do not include unsupported file formats — only JPEG and PSD files are accepted (no PNG, PDF, or EPS)
Avoid special characters in file names — use only letters, numbers, and hyphens
The total zip file size must not exceed 500 MB
